Plum Maple Leaf Branch Table Runner Crochet Pattern
Uses sc, hdc and dc to shape pointed leaves, then sews them onto a cord branch.
About 20 to 25 hours, and every leaf is a small project you can finish in one sitting.
Plum, lavender and charcoal leaves give your table a rich, moody look.
About This Plum Maple Leaf Branch Table Runner Crochet Pattern Pattern
This table runner is about 36 inches long and 14 inches wide. A thick twisted brown branch winds down the middle, and 16 chunky maple leaves in plum, lavender, charcoal and cream grow along it.
Small berry clusters sit between the leaves. Each leaf is worked in the round from a magic ring with pointed spikes, and the branch is a folded cord, so every piece is simple and the layout is up to you.
Why You'll Love This Plum Maple Leaf Branch Table Runner Crochet Pattern Pattern
I love how every leaf comes out a little different. You can lay them out again and again until the branch looks just right.
The berries are my favorite part. They are tiny, quick to make, and they add a pop of pink that makes the dark leaves feel alive.
Switch Things Up
Try classic autumn shades like mustard, rust and olive, or go all green with sage and moss for spring. You can make the leaves in soft pink and cream for a gentle look, or use chunky yarn with a 6.0 mm hook for a bigger, bolder runner.

Assembly Instructions
- Block every Large Leaf, Medium Leaf and Small Leaf flat, pinning each point straight, and let them dry completely.
- Fold the Main Branch Cord lengthwise around the piping cord and whipstitch the long edges together, twisting the cord gently as you sew for a braided look.
- Fold each Side Branch lengthwise and whipstitch the long edges together without a cord.
- Lay the Main Branch Cord in a gentle S curve down the middle of a 36 inch length, and sew the 8 Side Branches to it, alternating left and right.
- Sew the Large Leaves toward the near end, the Medium Leaves in the middle and the Small Leaves toward the far end, stitching each leaf at its center and letting the points overlap a little.
- Mix the plum, lavender, charcoal and cream leaves so no two leaves of the same color touch.
- Sew the Berries in clusters of 2 or 3 where the side branches meet the main branch.
- Weave in all remaining ends and steam the finished runner lightly from a distance.
Common Mistakes & How to Fix Them
Skipping the base stitches between points: work exactly 3 sl st for each Large and Medium Leaf point and 2 for each Small Leaf point so the points sit evenly.
Leaving the leaves unblocked: the points curl until you pin them flat and steam them.
Making the branch cord too loose: pull your stitches snug and sew tightly around the piping cord so the branch stays round.
Sewing the leaves only at one spot: stitch a second point on each leaf to the branch so the runner lies flat.
Important Notes
Gauge does not need to be exact, but keep your tension even so the leaves in each size match.
Blocking is important for the leaf points, so do not skip it.
Hand wash cold, press out the water gently and lay it flat to dry.
I hope this branch makes your table feel warm and cozy. Happy hooking!
Crochet Abbreviations
You Ask, We Answer
How big is the finished runner?
About 36 inches long and 14 inches wide, but you can add or remove leaves to change the size.
Can I use a different yarn weight?
Yes. Chunky yarn with a 6.0 mm hook makes bigger leaves and a wider runner, and you will need about 50 percent more yarn.
How do I wash it?
Hand wash in cold water, gently press out the water and lay it flat to dry. Re-block the leaf points if they curl.
Success!
